Automobiles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who found a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking representative said the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
