19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.
His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.
However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
Moutet rescued four early break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
