A person who laced candy with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offences against two young males aged between nine and ten.

The accused was detained after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.

The man conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".

She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She said the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.

"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel said materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his family member alerted the police about his worries.

She stated the man proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.

"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.

The legal representative explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement again.

She said the man then played the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
